Elizabeth Jensen Young, Oboe
GSO Member Since 2014
Favorite GSO Memory: A community orchestra to play in is my favorite part about the GSO. I wouldn't have moved to Memphis if there wasn't an orchestra for me to play with.
What do you do when you're not playing in the GSO? I am a Physics Professor at Rhodes College. I am an Aerospace Engineer by training and I enjoy teaching the Memphis community about astronomy. The picture is of my family during the solar eclipse. Notice the crescent shaped light on the ground? That is because the Sun was partially eclipsed by the Moon.
Hobbies and interests? I love traveling with my family. My husband is from Australia and we visit that country each year. My one year-old daughter keeps us all very busy helping her learn and grow. Music is a big part of our lives. I play over nine instruments because I love the unique sound and ability of each one.
