James Sparks, Violin

Picture
GSO member since 2005.

My favorite things about GSO:   Love playing with fellow music lovers in a low stress environment. One of my favorite things about GSO is bringing music to surrounding communities such as Ripley and Savannah, TN.

What do you do when you're not playing in the GSO?  I currently work at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as a Project Manager in Clinical Research. Live in the Cooper-Young neighborhood of Memphis. Have two dogs that allow my partner and I to share their space at home :) Also volunteer with the American Cancer Society as a Road to Recovery Driver, when able.

Hobbies/interests?  Other than playing violin, I enjoy traveling, reading and catching the latest Marvel movie at the theater. We love going to see live theater and music performances as well and currently have season tickets to The Memphis Symphony and Playhouse on the Square. Also an avid runner (read "jogger") and have participated in several local and non-local running events, such as the St. Jude Half-Marathon and the Hot Chocolate 15k.

The Germantown Symphony Orchestra, with its commitment to contribute to the performing arts community and music education, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, age, national origin, disability, marital status, or sexual orientation, in any of its activities or operations.  The GSO membership is open to any persons desiring an inclusive and welcoming environment to share their music abilities.
