The Germantown Symphony Orchestra
Concert Tickets
Tickets for concerts at Germantown Performing Arts Centre (GPAC) are available in advance by contacting the GPAC
Ticket Office at (901) 751-7500. They are $10 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. Special concert
tickets prices may vary but will be advertised as such in publicity releases. A minimal handling charge
may be applicable for tickets purchased in advance. Tickets are also available at the door. All tickets are for General
Admission seating.
For information regarding purchasing tickets to concerts at other venues, please call 755-8708.

featuring Winners of the Germantown Symphony 2002 Concerto Competition
Soloists Linnaea Brophy, Hugh LeSure, and Abby Wilensky
This season, in keeping with our mission of promoting young artists, the Germantown Symphony sponsored
a Concerto Competition. The winners won scholarships to summer music schools or camps of their choice and the opportunity to perform their winning selection with the Germantown Symphony Orchestra on this Young Artist Concert.
Aaron Coplands's "An Outdoor Overture" : Gabriel Faure's "Elegy" for Solo Violincello and Orchestra
(Hugh LaSure, cellist) ; Charles de Beriot's Fantasie de ballet, Op. 100 (Linnaea Brophy, violinist) ;
Edouard Lalo's "Symphonie Espagnole, Op. 21, for Solo Violin and Orchestra (Abby Wilensky, violin) ;
Igor Stravinsky's Suite (1919) from "The Firebird".

Sir Edward German's Three Dances from the music to Henry VIII ; Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite No.1, Op.46 ;

Note: This concert was originally scheduled to feature Felix Wang, Principal Cellist of IRIS, in
Schuman's Cello Concerto. Due to Mr. Wang's sudden illness, this concert has been reprogrammed and
Mr. Wang's appearance is being rescheduled for our April 26, 2003 concert.
Holiday Concert "A Holiday Homecoming"

Ann Kendall Ray and daughters Bradley Elizabeth Crawford and Laura Marion Ray have graciously
funded this concert in loving their mother and grandmother, Marion Douglas Kendall, an active
supporter of both St. Mary's School and the Germantown Symphony Orchestra.
Admission to this concert is free. Due to limited seating reservations are recommended. For ticket

Committed to promoting young artists, The Germantown Symphony Orchestra dedicates
one concert each year to featuring young talent. This season, the Toscanini Chamber Ensemble is
the young artist group selected to be the featured guests. The ensemble, violin students from
the studio of Libby Armour of Memphis, was established for pre-professional performance
opportunities for advanced Suzuki students.

Celebrate your holidays with seasonal music and cherished traditional favorites presented by the Germantown Symphony Orchestra,
the Germantown Community Chorus and guest soloists. Performing under the direction of Ronald Vernon and Mona Kreitner,
these ensembles expressively capture the true spirit of the holidays. Classical and popular holiday selections will include music by
John Rutter, John Williams, Leroy Anderson and many others. Preceded by the annual Germantown Parade, the Holiday Concert
offers an evening of family festivities to celebrate the season of sharing.
