Beth McClain, Principal Viola

GSO Member Since 2005
Favorite GSO Memory: I played in the orchestra for two years, then moved out of town for five years. When I learned I was moving back to Memphis, I couldn't wait to reconnect with GSO! I'm pretty sure the boxes weren't all unpacked before I showed up for rehearsal. I remember how excited I was to walk back into that first rehearsal after five years, because I had missed these people and the wonderful music so dearly. It is a treat to get to spend my Thursday evenings with this orchestra!
What do you do when you're not playing in the GSO? I'm a stay-at-home mom who enjoys volunteering in the library of my children's school. I also serve on the Board of Directors for the orchestra, helping coordinate personnel for the string players and writing grants.
Hobbies and interests? I am an avid reader, and I enjoy travelling with my family. My husband and I love planning adventures for our family - anything from cruising in Alaska to renting an RV in California to taking the train to explore Chicago. There is a wonderful world out there to explore!
