Pack a picnic and watch the sunset while enjoying a great performance by the Germantown Symphony Orchestra.  The free concert features selections of jazz, broadway show tunes, pops and light classics. The choirs of Germantown and Houston high schools will perform with the orchestra.  No rain date.  Sponsored by the City of Germantown.

Enjoy an evening of delightful classical music in an intimate setting.  Maggie Snyder, viola, will perform Bela Bartok’s Concerto for Viola and Orchestra, BB 128.  The style of the concerto is typical of Bartok’s later period, which is characterized by increased lyricism and warmth of harmony. Expect a wonderful performance by John Schuesselin, trumpet, when he performs Franz Joseph Hadyn's Trumpet Concert in Eb major with the GSO. 2010 is the 100th anniversary of Samuel Barber's birth and the GSO will celebrate by performing Barber's Overture to "The School for Scandal," one of Barber's most brilliant and melodic works. Enjoy a "Romantic Extravaganza" with Ian Hominick, pianist, performing Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Robert Schumann's "Spring" Symphony, celebrating the season and the 200th anniversary year of the composer's birth, and the much loved Roman Carnival Overture by Berlioz. Ian Hominick is an active soloist, accompanist, adjudicator and teacher, and maintains a busy schedule of concerts and piano masterclasses across the United States and Canada including solo recitals in Chicago, Cincinnati, Ottawa, Montreal, Milwaukee and New York City. He recently made his European debut with concerts in Rome, Italy.
